A pair of grandiose floor-mounted jardiniere flowerpots designed for decorating large spaces. They can be combined with bouquets of fresh, dried or artificial flowers. The transparent hemisphere is made of thin fluted glass, presumably Baccarat. The stand, decorative columns, hoops, three-rayed gilded bronze pedestal are decorated with palmettes, grotesques and twisted cord. Decorative stands rest on lion paws. Napoleon III style.
The style of Napoleon III fused the styles of Louis XIV, XV, XVI, Empire style on the basis of neo-Renaissance into an original product of eclecticism. Became the crown of historical reminiscences of the 19th century. Dominated in architecture and arts and crafts in France during the Second Empire (1852-1870), especially in Paris. The term is also used to describe furniture from this period. The style is characterized by ostentatious luxury and overload of decorative details.
